Can you provide capital growth averages for the last 10 or 20 years?

Median average growth figures can be very misleading for a variety of reasons (see our November 2000 report). The sales history of an individual property can be obtained from the Department of Natural Resources or a qualified Valuer. Real estate agents can also access this information for you.

Do you have details of tourists visiting the Sunshine Coast or other particular areas not mentioned in the report?

Yes, the information published in each Report is just the tip of the iceberg. We have a great deal more but only publish that which interests most subscribers. If you have a particular area in mind that you believe should be included please fill out the Suggestions form. Do you have any information on retirement villages?

We used to do a lot on retirement villages but found very few people were interested. Refer to the following Reports August 1997 to May 1998 - Retirement Village Stock and Sales in south East Queensland. What is the future of Timeshare?

Timeshare is not a true property investment, but mainly a way of paying in advance to guarantee holiday accommodation. It has become a legitimate part of the tourism industry after an early period when it was oversold. Some of the major hotel operators like the Marriott are involved overseas and it will continue to satisfy a small segment of the tourist market.

Is it possible to have data on gambling in the regions?

We review the operations of casinos and gambling in our Report of May 1999. The Australian Bureau of Statistics publishes regular surveys of gambling activity. Would like to see more comment on the Tweed area.

Although Tweed Shire is in NSW and this is strictly a Queensland report, the northern part around Tweed Heads is part of the Gold Coast Statistical District and is included in all those figures - see New Dwelling & Population Growth. Tweed has been very quiet in the past but we do comment when something significant like Casuarina Beach occurs.
